Every year my photography club runs a photo rally. We are given a disposable camera and asked to take photos of a number of themes. This year the assignment takes us to Sydney Olympic Park and Bicentennial Park. This is a fun exercise and an attempt to level the playing field. How good of a photographer are you when you can’t edit and can’t take a hundred photos to get the perfect shot. The camera has 28 shots and a basic flash.
I choose to go out during the weekend and we are blessed with sunshine and warm weather. We even find some free parking which is an added bonus around here! I have brought along my DSLR for comparison and the collage below is a small collection of the shots I got with my that camera. I love the shot of the two kids jumping in front of the stadium. They were kind enough to oblige when I asked if they would do something active! I shot this with the instamatic as well and was very pleased with the result.
As we walked through the park, we came across an area dedicated to the volunteers of the 2000 Olympics. Steve was excited to find his name on one of the poles…and I love the photograph I took of him, although the result with the disposable camera was not great.
I am eagerly awaiting the results of my submission in the photo rally….
